a person obtained our golf course through a deed in lieu. he claims this removes him from having to pay back our initial deposit that is to be returned to us when we resign.

if you were unable to pay off the dues and thus the property was sold off at a deed in lieu of foreclosure auction, then i don't think you'll be able to claim the initial deposit amount.
