We are in a financial stress and cannot afford the cost of our home. Moreover, my husband stays quite far off from the house. We are not underwater in the loan. The house supposedly is worth 180K and we owe about 110K on it. However, the house is in a bit of disrepair so I don't know that we could sell it ourselves. We would not have any money to give people to fix the problems anyway. I read around and it seemed a DIL might work. I have not talked to Citi yet about our decision to seriously consider walking away. If the house is in some disrepair, would they even let us do a DIL?
hi sandra!
welcome to forums!
it will be completely the lender's discretion whether or not he will consider your request for a deed in lieu of foreclosure. i will suggest you to apply for it to the lender and try to negotiate with the lender so that he accepts your request.
feel free to ask if you've further queries.
