i'm in the process of getting a modification of my mortgage. my name and my ex-husband's name was on the original loan. i can't refinance right now. my ex-husband has remarried and the modification can only go through if he's willing to sign the loan papers. his name is not on the deed. will his wife have any rights to my property?

If your ex-husband's name is mentioned in the property docs? If not, then his wife will not be able to claim any rights on that property. However, I would suggest you to have a word with your real estate attorney and take his opinion in this regard.
