Earnest money

Posted on: 14th May, 2013 12:46 am
I gave $700 in earnest money to hold a house to my mortgage guy. But after that he did not contact me and after few months told me that we lost the deal. We filled out the required documents to get our money back but till now nothing has happened. How much time does it take?
Hi Lobby,

Well, it shouldn't have taken so much time as you have submitted all the filled out documents. You should keep in constant touch with the concerned person in order to get the money back.

Thanks,

Jerry

Earnest money for home purchases isn't provided to anyone in the Mortgage Profession, it's provided directly to your Real Estate Agent, or the Homeowner, if you're buying it for-sale-by-owner. If a deal doesn't through, the earnest money is immediately provided back to the buyer. So something is wrong with your transaction ... it doesn't make sense to me.
