How do you file charges agaist a so called private contractor who doesnt want to pay and employee fo...My son is 19 years of age. About to go off to College for the spring term, And in his spare time he went to help a friend do some work for this private contracter name Steve here in Jacksonville Fla, He and His friend worked a full week, 10hour shift for each of those days, when Friday came. Steve told the youngmen that he would catch up to them latter and pay them. Well a whole nother week went by and he still hasnt paid them. My son sent a tex message and said when are you going to pay me my money, Steve sent a tex back and said some of places that he was working, some items came up missing so he doesnt fill like he has to pay them for any thing because he had to repay for these items. I think this man is a real scam arist, And has done this mess before.. So If any one can tell me how I can file charges against this person please let me no. So he can be exposed for the fraud that he is...Thank you
sorry to hear about this, but i have a question: if you knew he "has done this mess before," why did you allow your son to go work for him?
you won't have standing to sue him, but your son and his friend can sue for the lost wages. small claims court is a possibility - they'll need to provide some evidence that they actually worked for him, of course. you can always seek a lawyer's advice also, on how to handle this properly.

Welcome lovemairaansee,
I agree with George. If your son and his friend had signed any kind of agreement with the person then both of them will have a fair chance of winning the case against him.
