pretty sure my situation has come to finding legal advice. any suggestions on finding a good lawyer that specializes in this new market?
long story short. way upside down, been unemployed for 9 months, got money in the bank, but i'm not about to throw my raining day funds at my home equity loan only to be broke and worse off than i am now. missed my first home equity loan payment now trying to get them to talk to me, but still getting the run-around.
also, any idea on how much a lawyer will be? i'm just so hesitant to look into one of these people becuase it seems like they are scams.

Hi mglmstr,
The charges of lawyers may vary. In my opinion, it would be better if you could negotiate with your lender on your own and get a loan modification. You'll have to write a hardship letter to the lender for this and inform him about your situation. It depends upon the lender whether or not he would accept the request.
Thanks

Thanks,
Unfotunately I don't qualify for any modification since I'm so for upside down and haven't been employed for a while. Maybe I'll poke around the forums for my situation and see what comes up.
