Does anyone know if the HUD Forbearance affects your credit or credit score? U.S. Bank will not accept a loan modification request due to the fact that I have lost my job. They stated they will not do a modification based on job loss because if you can't prove income then you will not be able to make your payment no matter what the payment is reduced to. (this is not true but they will not even accept my application for mod. due to job loss). They will however approve me for 4 months forbearance. My two major questions are. 1- will I have to pay back all 4 months at once or payments I haven't made as soon as I get a job? 2- will it affect my credit or credit score? I have NEVER been late on a payment and I am only 24 yrs. old. I am trying to keep my credit in tact. I may need a loan down the road for a car (mine is Old) and I don't want to be turned down because I made this arrangement with the bank. U.S. Bank is not very helpful and they want me to call the credit bureau and ask them! I can't believe my lender does not know the answers to these questions!!! HELP!!
Hi lois!
Welcome to forums!
As far as I know, forbearance does not affect credit score. However, if you are delinquent on your mortgage payments before you go for a forbearance, then it might lower your credit score by few points.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
