My husband was out of work for 2 years - we always paid our mortgage everymonth for close to 12 years!!! Called to get a loan mod (his unemployment & our "current" home value underwater) seemed to fit all the HAMP/HARP guidelines - NOT! Unemployment is considered a "temporary" hardship (not very temporary when it becomes 2 years!) Jeez! So they said we can put you on a 6 month "forebearance" program... (about $500 less than our regular payment) ... We're only 3 months into it and already getting "default" & legal notices! Really? This "forebearance" program was made THROUGH wells fargo themselves & they're notifying some law office that our loan is in default!?!? Now I'm seeing ALL of this SCAM info online about these "pre-modification" (or forebearance) program scams - this is ridiculous!! Never would've done it - If I'm going to get foreclosed on - I would've been better off NOT MAKING ANY PAYMENTS! Really??
Welcome tmf,
I hope you have the forbearance agreement with yourself. In case any legal action is taken against you, then you will be able to show that forbearance agreements and sort out the matter.

Lawyers cost money. You may need one.
However, it costs nothingto write to the state banking department and tell them what is happening.
There is now also a national system for complaints.

If you can find them there, you can file a complaint on line.
