gift letter and payment

Posted on: 16th Aug, 2010 07:30 pm
My parents gave us a gift of 10000. We were able to purchase our first home. While living under their roof they forced us to sign a loan letter from them to us, or they would throw us out on the street. Now they want the money or take us to court. What are my options?
Hi someday!

Welcome to forums!

If you've signed an agreement with them stating that you would pay back the monies to them, then you're liable for it. If you do not make the payment, your parents can take you to court. You can negotiate with them so that they can give you some time to arrange for the money and pay back the dues.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
