HELOC charge off

Posted on: 05th Feb, 2010 02:30 pm
When a company tells you they charged off the HELOC what does that mean? They approved our main mortgage, but declined the HELOC. To our surprise when I called to make a trial payment, they told me the acount was closed, written off, no clear answer ???
What could be their intentions? How should we proceed? They told us to contact recovery and this department told us to sell our house to pay them, when they just approved our permanent mortgage modification.!! We think they are a 3rd party collection agency, but they won't say? What can they do, can they force foreclosure or file a judgement??
the lender has sold off your heloc account to a collection agency(ca). selling off the loan to a ca is known as mortgage charge off. the collection agency can be a 3rd party or their in-house recovery department. you need to contact your lender and get the contact details of the collections agency. you'll have to contact them and pay off the dues. if you don't do so, they may sue you. to know more about second mortgage charge off, check out the given page:
