my husband has changed the locks on the house can i refuse to pay the mortgage?
Hi,
Is your husband the sole owner of the property? Is your name on the title to the property? In case your name is on the title, you have ownership rights to the property and your husband cannot stop you from entering into the house. But if your name is not on the property title, he can change the locks and stop your entry into the house. Are you on the mortgage? If you aren't, you can simply refuse to make the payments.

i don't think changing the locks usually precedes the stopping of the mortgage payments.
are you now unable to get back in the home? did you contact the local authorities to lodge a complain? have you spoken with a lawyer?

You dont refuse to pay mortgage
kasper you're in violation of the code of silence.
aviva, not to be rude but this sounds like something out of a comedy like "the breakup"
changing of locks to dot provide you with an out for the mortgage payments.
why should the bank suffer just because you and your hubby are fighting?

oh Lord, please don't let us get people started on why the banks should suffer...we've been down that road before, after all.
