How can I get a loan modification?

Posted on: 23rd May, 2010 12:12 am
My mortgage was with Taylor, Whitaker and Bean, after they went bankrupt my mortgage went to Cenlar (Central Loan and Reporting Adm.) I asked them for help with a loan modification since my husband died last year and I have just been laid off my job, they said they do not do refinancing or modifications as they are just caretakers of my mortgage. Told me to find my own lender to help. How can I do that?

I can just see my house getting foreclosed on without any help, even though I have kept the payments current.
They are not giving you the whole truth. While Cenlar is just the servicer ( they collect payments for the owners of the loans ), they can tell you who the current owner is of your mortgage, and that is the company that you would be dealing with.

Cenlar is indeed difficult to deal with, however, if you are eligble for a loan modification under the federal HAMP guidelines, and we can find the owner of your loan, there is a possibility you can obtain your loan modification.

Please visit "www.hampmod.org" for more information about the program and your ability to find out if you qualify.

This is the answer I received from Cenlar about who is the owner of my mortgage.

"Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your investor. Your mortgage investor is Freddie Mac."

Now what do I do, and thanks for responding.
