Hi there… I had borrowed a loan few years back and now a lawyer is harassing me for it! I was told that he would get the authority to come my house and arrest me if I don't pay now! Is this possible? Can a lawyer really call me and harrass me?
Are you paying the mortgage payments on time or are you late on your payments? If you're mortgage payments are current, then no one can threaten you. If the lawyer is threatening you though you're current on your payments, then you can take legal actions against that lawyer.
Fair debt laws prohibit threats, harassment and false accusations that you can be arrested. There is no debtors prison. File a complaint with the FCC, the State Bar Association, ripoff report and anywhere else you can post your complaint. If you are current or not, doesn't matter. Good Luck
I agree with what Guest has posted. Assure that you pay your debts on time.
Please dont contact the FCC - that is the agency with responsibility for tv, radio, etc.
Contact the FTC - the Federal Trade Commission - (ftc.gov). That's the agency responsible for upholding laws concerning collections efforts, etc.
If a creditor or lawyer or anyone else is threatening such a thing as having you arrested, then that's illegal in the entire USA. Contact the FTC immediately and report that lawyer.
