bank of America is our lender in 2009 we had country wide..just got a tax letter said no taxes (property) were paid in 2009 an we are in rears. What can we do ? we can't afford lawyer.
What kind of conversation(s) have you had with your servicer in this regard? Have your monthly installments included a sum designated for escrows?
If the answer to the first question is 'none' then you need to call them right away. If the answer to the second is no, then you were liable to make those tax payments all along, and your arrearage will continue until you pay it.
Generally, in my view, if you can't afford a lawyer, you really can't afford not to have one. Check with Legal Aid in your area and see if you can assistance in that way.
