I am in Minnesota and someone owes me 40,000. I do have proof in writing and they have sent me about 800.00 and have stopped paying do I need a lawyer to put a lean against their property?
Hi katcurrie,
If you wish to place a lien on the property, you will have to file a lawsuit against that person. In order to do so, you will have to contact an attorney.
Thanks

No, an Attorney isn't required. But if it were me, I'd hire an Attorney, because I don't know how that process works, and I wouldn't want to do it by myself if $40,000.00 was at stake.
