Posted on: 27th Nov, 2009 07:36 am
I'm in Washington State and bought a motor for my boat online in North Carolina. It had a guarantee which I used and returned motor. Owner has sent $270.00 as part refund but still owes $1000.00. He says he has to sell more of his parts in order to send more. Do I have any recoarse to get my monies faster, he owns a marine parts buisiness.

Thanks
Hi,

Did you have some sort of an agreement with him? In case you had a written agreement with him, you have a legal recourse to get back your money faster. But if there isn't any such agreement between you two, it will be difficult for you to get the money quickly. You can try and put a lien on his property. You can file a lawsuit in the small claims court as it does not require you to hire a lawyer. If the judgment is passed in your favor, you can have a lien put on his property. But the entire process will take certain amount of time.

hi lee.

If you have made an agreement while making this deal check have you mention any time ratio, if no then make a notice to him that you need money soon, so process it soon, after that you can move forward and any legal action you can take ,,

thanks
