my name is on the deed, not the mortgage. i have a creditor that wants to place a lien on the house. its an unsecured loan. my husband has nothing to do with my debt. can the creditor do this? any suggestions to stop them from doing this??
Hi mhamilton,
As your name is on the property deed, you are one of the owners of the property. Your creditor has the right to place a lien on your property in order to recover the dues. I don't think you would be able to do anything in order to stop the creditor from placing a lien on your property.
Thanks
