My home is facing foreclosure and i heard that i could maybe put a lien on the mortgage to be able to get my down payment money back. I have only lived in the house for less than 2 years and i cannot afford the monthly mortgage and have done everything i can to talk to the bank for help me afford the payment and they are refusing to help, in turn forcing me out and lose the house. is there anyway to put a lien on the house so that the bank cannot resell until they pay back my down payment?
fred, you cannot place a lien on your home to get your down payment money back. that's that.
as for contact with your lender, you ought to seek out an attorney or consult with a counselor. counselors in your area can be found on the hud web site (hud.gov). search for the word "counselors" in your state, and an array of agencies will appear. choose the one closest to you and speak with them about being your advocate with the lender.
