My mother bought a house 13 years ago in dade county. I was included in the mortage to obtained the credit (house is in my mothe ,and my name), we both applied for florida homestead exemption as we were told we should do. Last year I bough a house, but my mother still live in our first house. I claimed homestead for my new house , but my mother lost her homestead. What should I do?
Hi gordito,
As far as I now, you cannot have homestead for two properties. You should quitclaim the earlier property to your mother and then she can apply for homestead again.
