I rent to own a property. In such a situation. I have missed payment but I have assured the landlord that I will make payments on my payday. In such a situation, will the landlord be able to show up at my job to demand payment?
Well as far as I know, the Federal Fair Debt Collection Protection Act (FDCPA) allows a debt collector to contact you at work unless the he or she is asked by the employer to not contact you there. However, I have never heard anyone directly visit the office to collect the rent. Normally phone calls are made.
Welcome Gimma,
Yes, it is quite normal for the landlord or the creditor to contact you over the phone when you are at office and request for the payments. I have never heard anyone to turn up in person at the office to recover the dues.
