are there any sources for information on professionals who handle loan modifications?
we have been working with our mortgage services for nearly a year, and still the have not "made a decision", even though they have twice verbally stated they would recapitalize the arrearage.
i am leary of the "loan modification specialists" who promise to make it happen, but require $ up front and an agreement that says essentially "we do not promise that we can accomplish a modification to your mortgage."

However, I would suggest you to be careful of the loan modification companies who promise a lot of things but can be a scam at the end. You should check out their credentials before hiring them. If you want an expert to modify your loan, you can contact a lawyer who is registered with the bar association. He may help you in negotiating a deal with your lender.
