should I stop paying now?

Posted on: 29th Aug, 2009 03:44 pm
I have never had a 30 day late on anyhing, and I'm scared to death to do it now, but I am struggling so hard to make my payments, I used to pay before the due dates on everything, now I pay the very last day it will be reported late. if only I didn't have that darn 2nd mortgage payment, that just hurts! expenses have gone up, some income has gone down and I raise 2 kids and am about to get divorced ( he only provided me with 300 monthly for about a year anyway) so thats really not the reason why Im struggling, but the 300 did help.I dont know what to do!! so many people just stop making payments. But I am afraid to do that even though I really cant afford to make them right now..I sent paperwork in to consider for a modification, can I not make this months payment??what will happen? my electric bill hasnt benn paid yet or my water/garbage payment..should i pay those and not my mortgage?? my monthly gross is about 2300, my 1st mtg is a 30 year fixed at 6% ( which I know is good)I owe 160,000 on my first and my 2nd in over 7% and i owe 25,000..
what do you think?? should I stop paying this month, what if they dont modify? I would still be having my same problem but now with a late payment? help please...
Normally you have soem grace period after your due to date the make the payment

Example, if you mortgage is due on the 1st yu will have tiem till 15th with out any issues. Some times you can pay before the end of the month and your credit score may nto get affected

The trcik is doign ti before the 30 day. You will still be takign soem risk. But that gives soem hint to the lender that you are nto abel to make the payment and may help in loan modification
