i submitted a request for a loan modification with my mortgage company citibank. the paperwork had been filed back in oct 09. i paid my modification payments on time and sent all the paperwork that was required. they just declined on 25 mar 10 due to me not send in all the required documents. now each month i would call them to make my payment and ask the status of my loan modification they said everything was ok just waiting for the underwriters approval. now i have to pay all the escrow and so on.
can i get a loan modification any where else?
my credit is low 633 so i can't even refinance. i would like to get away from citibank if i can.

Hi drillboy,
It is your lender who will be able to modify the loan. You will have to contact your lender and re-apply for modification. Depending upon your financial situation, the lender may consider your request for the loan modification. Other lenders won't be able to help you in any way in this regard. You may take the help of a mortgage modification attorney and check out if he would able to help you negotiate with your lender.
Take care.

Citimortgage said I couldn't re-apply for 12 months. How do I find a legit mortgage modification attorney in my area?
Hi drillboy,
It is always better to negotiate with the lender yourself rather than contacting a mortgage modification attorney. You can check out the given page in order to find out lawyers who may help you: "http://lawyers.findlaw.com/"
Thanks

drillboy welcome to the red tape circle j*rk of Loan mods thru the govt. program.Lenders do not want to do this.I played the game you did but I will tell you 12mo. wait period to reapply is total BS. We started our mod back in March 09.Like you we were in constant contact with our servicer after applying and like you we were told over and over all docs look fine.Until our last month in the trial period when a letter came saying docs were missing. I called and was told I was to late the mod was denied 2 days earlier. They restarted a modification right then and there. I again had another 3 month trial period which brought us into 2010 with still no answer.End of Jan. 2010 we were approved. Even the second time around they still played missing document games.Twice we had to resupply 4506t forms. We had to supply paystubs again.(Between the 1st and 2nd mod attempt I would say we sent our pay stubs in atleast 8 times) 4506t's 6-8 times. 3 different hardship letters,Utility bills which were never asked for till the last month of the 1st attempt( this was what they denied it over)
That 12 month wait period is BS though. As I said our deny on 1 was in Sept. By Nov. we were starting it all over a 2nd time. Good luck.

I know its such bull! In one day I called Citimortgage I talked to 8 different people, only two people told me the same thing. You don't know who to believe. I will continue to try and get a mod.. The number one thing is to improve my credit so I can refinance with somebody other than Citimortgage. The main reason for trying to get a mod is to lower my interest along with a lower payment.
