Home modifications and state tax liens

Posted on: 18th Jun, 2010 06:35 pm
can you get your mortgage loan modified if you have a state tax lein on your credit report that you are making monthly payments on?
It shouldn't be a disqualifier in and of itself if you have already contacted the state and made arangements for repayment in good faith. Contact your current servicer and see what can be done.

Good Luck

Hi mustanggirl,

As you're making monthly payments on your state tax lien, I don't think you will face any issues in modifying the mortgage. Though, the lender may want you pay off the tax lien before he modifies the mortgage.

Thanks
