They seem to be a Loan modification company based in Nevada, but are also operating in New York.
They took the money upfront, promised to get the loan modified, but its been 6 months and nothing has happened and the home owner is still paying the same loan and now really struggling, after giving $5000 to The Mac Group.

Hi msinghroy,
You shouldn't have taken the help of the company in order to get a loan modification. You should have negotiated with your lender directly in order to get the loan modified. Moreover, you should note that the company cannot charge you upfront fees in order to modify the loan. You should contact an attorney and check out if you can take any legal actions against them.
Thanks

Thanks for the tip.
To anyone who's interested in obtaining a modification: there are plentiful counseling agencies out there who don't ask for $5000 or even a thin dime. Go check out HUD's website for agencies. NACA is one, and there are plenty of others (CCCS comes to mind quickly, too).
There's no need to shell out $5000 or more of your money when you could put that money to good use elsewhere (like paying the mortgage payment). These companies are, by and large, shysters who are simply making a quick buck (lots of quick bucks) off the backs of the unfortunate. And then they don't deliver on their promises.
Be very selective in your choice of lawyer, too. You need to be able to trust everyone in whom you put your trust. Get some references from friends, family, coworkers, etc.

The MAC Group is not licensed to do business in the State of New York. File a complaint with the Mortgage Lending Division in the State of Nevada and they will make sure you get your money back. Also file a complaint with the better business bureau. Neither one of these will cost you any money and they will ensure you get your money back.
I lost my house because of them then they wouldn't give me my money back. They are crooks and scam artists. No one there knows what they are doing or saying. Thanks for the tip on the information for the State of Nevada. How do I find out if they are licensed in Ohio?
This company contacted me and all they wanted was the money. I really did not have the hardship because my son has been helping me out. I told them this and they told me they wouldn't be using his income. That is not being honest. I live in Hawaii and I looked up our laws. They are not even suppose to be doing modifications for a fee in our state. These people do not have a conscience!
I had my loan modified by them took a while but they came through for us.
make sure the company that offers help is licensed. These guys are and thats why we signed up with their services.
so called "non profits" mean no help..trust me I was with Naca and never got anywher in 1yr. Now i dont have my home, not their fault but its true. Nothing is for nothing in this world.
Anon, your post is contradictory. You knock NACA for your having "not got anywher" yet you also indicated "not their fault."
If you think you would have been better off paying thousands of dollars to some of these shyster agencies only to lose your home eventually, then I think you're mistaken.
You have my sympathy, no matter what, on losing your home.
