Money owed for work done.

I am not a contractor and I did nearly $4,000 worth of work for someone and invested over $1800 in materials. This person is satisfied with the work done but refuses to pay for personal reasons. Can I lean his property? Or sue? Or chalk this up to experience and eat the loss??? thank you for helping.
This forum is for mortgage related discussion and this would be a legal question. But to file a mechanics lien, you would have to adhere to the notice of work perfomed and completed. Not sure how that works if you are not a licensed contractor. Did the work you performed require a license? You can always go to small claims, in CA that would be $7,500 maximum I believe. I would consult an attorney, they should be able to direct you over the phone if you have a case. Good luck

Hi bicsac,

You may be able to place a lien on the property provided you file a lawsuit and get a judgment in your favor for the same. You can contact an attorney and he will further assist you in filing the lawsuit.

Thanks
