Hi there… I had taken out a mortgage with Ocwen Loans. It has been paid off around 6 years ago. However, now they are reporting that I had some late payments. But again, I just received a Verification of Mortgage Account statement from Ocwen and it shows no late payments at all. Is this letter enough proof for the credit bureaus to remove this negative information about my payment history and correct it to zero missed payments?
If the lender has already given you a Verification of Mortgage Account statement, then they can't report any further late payments to the credit bureau. Moreover, your loan has been paid off. So, now they can't report anything negative to the credit bureaus regarding that loan account. I guess the Verification of Mortgage Account statement will be enough to remove the negative item from your credit report.
Hi LTP,
If the loan has already been paid off, then they can't report any late payments to the credit bureaus now. Moreover, if there had been any late payments, then the lender wouldn't have give you a lien release certificate after you paid off the loan. As far as I can understand, the Verification of Mortgage Account statement will be enough to remove this negative account from your credit report.
Thanks
