Looking at SS survivors benefits booklet, it say "your dependent parents can receive benefits if they are age 62 or older"

legally they should be but i haven't seen any such instance. but what feel you an get it done in one way that you can get the benefits as 'your wife's parents.' if your wife is eligible for the aid then surely her parents will be.

I should have made myself more clear, my wife recently passed away, I was wondering if my natural parents (which are my wife's parents in law) who lives with us can also be entitled to my wife's survivors benefits.
My wife did provide over 50% of the support for my natural parents while she lived.
The definition of parents from SSA is defined as follows, I was wondering if my natural parents falls into this category:
SSA definition of parents:
"The above requirements apply to natural parents, legally adoptive parents and stepparents "

Hi AMG,
I think parents in laws can also qualify for the survivors benefits as dependent parents. However, for them to qualify as dependents, she would have had to pay one-half of their support. As you have mentioned she did provide over 50% of their suppor, I think they can qualify. But I think you should contact the local SS office to know more about it.
Thanks,
Jerry
