My wife signed a promissary note so that we can by a house. It is her nam only on the promissory note, that she borrowed from family members. Can I be held accountable to pay if my wife refuses to pay?

Hi Poppocool,
If your name is not mentioned on the mortgage docs or the promissory note, then you can't be held accountable for those debts. Your wife will be considered liable for the debts in full.
Thanks

Welcome Poppocool,
You can't be held accountable for a loan that is not in your name. If your wife refuses to pay, then the person from whom she had taken out the loan will go after her.
