after quitclaim deed is filed in michigan can past foreclosure and medical bills come to haunt??
my very ill mother in law wants us to take over her house. she has only $11,000 left on a bankruptcy shwe filed in 2003. if we do a quit claim deed to my husband and i, if she dies before we can deed her off the title after the lien is paid off, can her medical bills come after the house if we are on the deed? also, my husband has a foreclosure on his credit, can that house come to haunt when he goes on this quitclaim?? help please!!

Your situation is a little complicated, especially with the bk, which sounds like a chap 13. If so, you'll probably need the court's ok to do anything. Given all of this, I think you should talk to an attorney.

If the lien is attached on the property then the creditors can come after you. But if the property is free and clear then you should not have any problems. By the way as your husband has faced foreclosure and if there is any outstanding balance on the mortgage then the mortgage company may place lien on this new property too but as Mike stated above you should better consult with an attorney before taking any decision.
