hello there… my mortgage was included in my bankruptcy filing but i did not reaffirm the loan. i though i would leave the property but now i have changed my mind and i’m paying to stay! i asked if i could refinance the mortgage and the lender said no. why is it so?
As you haven't reaffirmed the loan, you're not personally liable for the mortgage payments. As a result, the lender is not ready to refinance the mortgage.
Welcome Penny,
I agree with what Penny has said. The lender will refinance the loan as you're not personally liable for paying it off. It would be a better option to sell off the property in order to get rid of the mortgage.
