Husband passed almost 4 years ago. I have been paying mortage on time and would like to refiance. Mortgage is in husbands name only. What can I do?
I think you will just have to submit legal papers to the authorities that would prove you are his spouse. But before that, try to go to the them concerning this matter and ask them what are the things you need to do. Asking them first would give you a complete answer to this issue.
Hi edv,
You need to check out whether or not you have equity in your property. You can contact a property appraiser for the same. If you have equity in your property, you can refinance the mortgage and get it transferred from your deceased husband's name to your name.
Thanks

Did your husbands estate go through Probate after he passed?
