I am in a real pickle and I hope I will be able to get some insight.. I am a young disabled woman who is has two small children. Ten years ago I got with my husband who at the time owned a home with a previous girlfriend with whom he has a child with also. My problem is her name is on the deed and mortgage of the house as well , I pay the mortgage payment each month but the mortgage company wont even speak to me b/c I am not her very frustrating. Three years ago my husband had a heart attack and has been in ill health since, since then she has disappeared and I feel she is waiting for him to die so she can swoop in and kick me and my little boys when we are down. As far as refinancing to get her off of everything his credit is shot Iam realizing that he is not doing his part to make sure I am taken care of in event of his death. I live in PA, he has told me if he dies I get half of the house which she would still make me sell and get monery she never put into it I have put my blood sweat and tears into this place for 10 years and I am scared what my rights are and I have heard that she will get the whole house and I will be kicked out is there any one who could offer some insight as what to do I am financially strapped but Iam scared and want to protect myself and my little boys before it is too late thank you in advance.
welcome amberrascona,
you can ask your husband to draft a will and declare you as the beneficiary of the property. if that is done, then the ex-girlfriend will not be able to force you to move out of the house. you should start taking steps in order to improve your credit score, so that you can refinance the mortgage in your name. to know some steps to improve your credit score, check out the given page:

Thank you so much for your insight is has eased my mind tremendously, I am on the will ASAP!! I have been working to get my credit in great standing I pay bills on time, have built up credit cards and use them only when I have the money to pay them off in hopes that my credit at least would remain intact.
