I filed for bankruptcy in January of 2009 and was told by my attorney here in missouri that i had to file a reaffirmation so that I could keep my house and car. I didn't mind filing for my car because it was nearly paid off anyway...I had one more payment to go and received my title.
But as of yet I do not have that reaffirmation papers put back in my name so that i can continue to better my credit for house repairs.
The attorney says that he sent the paper work and that it would cost another $250.00 to refile and Citi Mortgage (who tick me off to the higest level of ticktivity) swear that it was never received no matter how many letters or calls that I make I am not getting anywhere with these people.
I could use all advice that I could possibly get from anyone who has been through this.
P.S. I was on the phone with someone at CitiMortgage (before they became Midland) for about forty minutes and his computer kept crashing. Sometimes he thought that he found my reaffirmation and sometimes he said that he didn't have it....how can some people get these jobs dealing with millions of dollars?

Hi BrendaB,
You will have to somehow find out whether or not Citi Mortgage has really received the reaffirmation papers. In case you find that they really haven't received the reaffirmation papers, then you need to reaffirm the loan so that you can pay the debts and they get reported to your credit report. This will in turn improve your credit scores.

It makes sense to me that you re-send the reaffirmation agreement, inasmuch as Citimortgage continues to claim that they have no such agreement on hand.
If this is in your best interest, then the funds you would pay for the re-filing of the agreement would seem like a pretty decent invement.
