how to release a lein on a manfacture home

Posted on: 05th Sep, 2010 09:03 am
we purchased a manufacture home in 2003- we are now trying to refinace and since discovered there is a lein from the orginial owners in 1996- how do go about getting this lein released and deactivate the title-
the orginial title company was of no help - they did not know how to handle
thank you
Hi satnerd,

The lien needs to paid off in order to get it released from the title of the property. Once you pay off the lien, the lender will give you a lien release certificate and then you can refinance the mortgage.

Hi roe,

As you're the buyer of the property, you'll have to pay off the lien or ask the original owner to pay off the lien. Once the lien is paid off in full, then you'll be able to get a refinance.

Thanks
