I am a co-mortgagtor on a single family house with a relative. I have been paying the mortgage as the other person had been incarcerated and since relaease has been unsble to hold a steady job. He has only helped me minimally financially. Can I legally force him to pay me, or do I try and get him off the title.
how can you force someone whose income is marginal to begin with, to make payments that are probably beyond his ability to pay? i agree that he ought to contribute, but i suppose some compassion is in order. moving from incarceration to employment can't be the most efficient way to go. i don't mean to preach, but it would seem that you really need to discuss this at length before making rash decisions. yes, you can strive to become the sole owner, but it would seem more sensible and charitable to have him contribute as the joint owner.
