save my house

Posted on: 31st Jul, 2009 01:04 pm
I bought my house and became permanantly disabled, I now get soc sec and the VA is redoing my claim to 100% , how ever this has taken some time and my house has gotten behind to the point of forcloser. The mortgage company will not work with me, and I have a legal aid lawyer trying to help me out. My house is a bit dated and only worth about half of what the mortgage says I owe.

They have been trying hard to take my house but I have been blessed so far and have kept them away.

does anyone have any ideas????
Hi specops,

Did you apply for a loan modification with your lender? It is a way to avoid foreclosure and save your property. In this process, the lender would reduce your interest rate and increase the term of the loan which would make the loan affordable for you. Sometimes, the lenders also offer a forbearance along with loan modification. In forbearance, the lender may suspend the payments for few months and then give you a loan modification. You can ask your lawyer to negotiate with the lender regarding a modification.

Thanks
