How much higher should I go on the bid?

Posted on: 09th Mar, 2009 05:13 pm
The house I want is priced at 300, but its in a neighborhood where the similar houses are priced at 399. Its in good condition, how much higher should I bid?
It is tough to say without knowing the seller's situation. Offer lower than the $300 and wait for a counter offer.

there would seem to be a reason for the reduced price, no? i agree with eric (go figure) in suggesting you bid less than the asking price and see what shakes after that. if you are working with a realtor, the two of you ought to be able to craft a strategy that will get you the home with the least expense.
