I have not filed for Bankrupcy yet but I am thinking of doing so. I understand I am able to keep like 9,000 of my property filing a chapter 7. I own a car and a motorcycle and they are paid off. I was wondering if I can sell my motorcycle to pay my utilites on my home . I live in Indiana. Also is it 1 or 2 years before filing for Bankrupcy that you cant sell your assets.
Hi tbrown,
Selling property just before bankruptcy filing can be considered as fraudulent. In my opinion, you should get in touch with a bankruptcy attorney and take his opinion in this matter. He will guide you as to when you should sell your assets.
