Short sell After Bankruptcy

Posted on: 15th Sep, 2010 05:59 am
i posted a thread last night and i am a little confused to the answer. i filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2007 which included a mortgage. after filing, the mortgage lender called and asked if i would do short-sell to help them out even though i wasnt legally obligated. i did this and it closed april of 2009.

in a reply to my original post, it indicated i would have to wait 2-3 years from the short-sell date. since the bankruptcy discharged the debt and i was no longer legally responsible after 2007, why would i have to wait from the short-sell date? wouldnt it be the bk discharged date? i am told that pre-approved but concerned in this scenario. i live in california and applying for an fha loan.
