The Title agency for the buyer is trying to charge me, the seller, $175 for a municipal lien search, prior to processing the short sale. I thought all charges went to the seller/lender and not the homeowner? Should I be paying this fee?
Hi cass,
Normally, the charges are paid by the seller/lender but in certain cases, you may have to pay the dues. However, you should be informed before hand if the lender/seller wants you to pay for the municipal lien search.
Thanks,
Jerry
