I want to short sale my house. My ex-husband is still listed on the mortgage but left the country. My mortgage company wont short sale unless we both provide written authority. What should I do?
Hi famzwart!

It is true that unless both of you sign the documents, the lender won't agree to a short sale. I will suggest you to contact an attorney and take his opinion in this regard.

An attorney's opinion will mirror that which is stated above. A lender cannot accept a proposed short sale if one of the owners is not on board with the transaction.
Somehow, you'll need to get your former husband's consent to sell the home. Undoubtedly, you'll want to consult with an attorney in order to arrange the deal, perhaps with your former husband's attorney's assistance as well.
