New house locks?

Posted on: 04th Jan, 2010 06:30 pm
My significant other & I have been splitting the mortgage payment for 13 years. He is NOT on the mortgage, just on the deed. We are having issues. I want to split & he ingnors me. Do I have the legal right to change the home locks? I want to buy him out or sell & give him his half.......................I just want to move on from this relationship.

Thanks!!
if he were a tenant, you'd be in trouble by changing locks (with the law, that is).

if he is a rational person, i suppose you could change the locks and be safe. if the worst thing that's happening is that he's ignoring you (in terms of behavior, i mean), then i guess you could do what you wish and he'd probably wander away and find someone else to ignore.
