My husband and I have been working with Suntrust (1st. mortgage) loss/mid. department since 3/17/2009 that is when we gave them hardship letter, w2, pay stub and 2nd mortgage w/citi. info. I talked with Hope Now and they submitted info to Suntrust about a month before that. We did not make our March or April payment. I call every other day and all they tell me is the negotiator has everything and there are no notes. I did get one person who transfered me to the negotiators voicemail and I left a message on 4/7/2009 and I never got a call back. I called again today and talked with somebody who transfered me to the negotiators voicemail and left another message. Can somebody explain to me the process and how this should take. We also have talked with Citi. (2nd mortgage ) and sent them the same paperwork and they said they are waiting to see what suntrust will do with our payment before they can help. Also, Suntrust tells me to make sure I make one payment before the end of 3 months beeing late (june 1st). My husband and I will have the money to do that but we are worried that if we give them all of our money and they decide to not help us that we will be left with no money. We would need that money for an appartment down payment.
My husband and I have never been late on our mortgage before March. We closed out my husbands 401k and have used all of that money on mortgage. I have not been able to work due to our childs illness and after she got better it has been hard to find a job that will cover daycare. My husband is in the automotive business and has gone from bringing home $7000-$8000 a month to $2000-$3000 a month.
If anybody has any suggestions please let me know.
Thanks,
Kim

Hi
How much time it'll take to modify your loan, depends on the lender. If they're interested in modifying the loan, they can do it quickly, otherwise they'll take time.

I agree with you. I think you should not pay them any money because it, in no way, gurantees that they will modify the loan. If they cannot help you with a modification plan, the money can come in handy for a down payment for the apartment.
