i am underwater on my home. i owe 376k and value is about 335k. the first mortgage is of 266k @ 5.75 ir whereas the second mortgage is 109k with a high interest rate of 10.9%. my credit is 624 and wife is 694. i am told i do not qualify for harp as the loans would have had to have been taken on the same day. i find it hard to believe that nothing can be done. i am so cash poor right now because we are paying 3900 a month in mortgage payments. anyone have any advice on what i can do. thanks for the help in advance.
Hi zyrah,
You should contact the lender and negotiate with him once again. But it should also be noted here that unless you meet all the required criteria of the lender, he won't consider you for HARP.

Get in touch with your mortgage lender and explain him about your poor financial condition. Try to negotiate with him again. Make sure you fulfill the criteria of the lender so as to qualify for HARP.
