I own a condo. The propert manager for the apartments that are on the same property as my condo capped off the gas line leading to all the condos on October 1, 2008l. I pay a HOA fee of $231 a month that suppose to cover my water, gas, trash, landscape service and the blanket insurance for the condo. We have a 50% delinquency for owners not paying their dues each month as well as about 40 out of the 90 unit owners that have bailed out and no longer live there. I am tired of living in a crappy environment, having to pay for something that has been taken away from me and am not able to sell the condo for what I owe. Do you have any advice for me? I am about ready to walk away from this and stop paying my mortgage to go live in a house.
Hi Sin_NIN,
I understand how you must be feeling in such a crappy situation. But foreclosure would not be a good option as it can hurt your credit badly. I don't understand how a property manager could cap off the gas line, when you have been paying the HOA fee regularly. Thus, I think, you should consult an attorney and ask him whether the property manager has any right to do what he has done.
