I bought a lot from the city i live in aprox 2 years ago got a warranty deed , went to go sell it and they did a title search and found a state tax lien on the property from 1982 am i responsible for this lien now or is the city , i live in South Dakota
Hi sldavis,

As the property is in your name, you would be liable to pay off the tax lien. It would have been better if you could have gone for a title search before purchasing the property. You could have asked the seller to pay off the tax lien. I would suggest you to have a word with your attorney in this matter.

Thanks
