Quit Claim deed for sisters

Posted on: 20th Dec, 2010 06:32 am
My sister bought a house and asked me to move in to help with the costs. I pay half of everything, including the payment on a house she is trying to sell. The agreement was that she would sign a QCD to ADD me to the house and I would remodel a building on the propery for a residence for myself. She did not understand what the QCD was and now doesn't want to do that (we would both be on the deed). I can't in good conscience invest thousands of dollars to remodel that building without some kind of agreement that would prevent her from making me move out if she decided to do that. Is there some way to protect me and make her feel more comfortable?
Hi Nitakola!

Welcome to forums!

Quitclaim deed or QCD is a legal document used to transfer property or add someone to the property deed. Once both of you are on the property deed, then both of you will be considered as the owners of the property. Both of you will have equal rights to that property. Your sister shouldn't feel uncomfortable in adding you to the deed as she will have equal rights to the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
