Get a former spouse off a Quit Claim Deed for Abandonment

Posted on: 23rd May, 2011 07:59 am
My spouse and I have been divorced since 1995. Our marrital home is still in joint names. He has not contributed financially for the home since the divorce. I have a last know address, however, have not spoken to since. I cannot sell my home until he is off the property, how can I get this accomplished without him be found?
Hi Angela,

You will have to find your ex-spouse and ask him to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you so that you become the sole owner of the property. You can contact a real estate attorney and he will guide you regarding the required steps you need to take in this regard.

Thanks
