I have a complex problem.
I lived with my fiance ( a junior) for 10 yrs in his home. He passed away in 1998.
Come to find out the home he lived in was actually still in his fathers name
( SR).
I continued to live in the home paying the taxes etc.
I quitclaimed the home, but was told I had to wait 10 yrs before I could sell the home. I have paid the taxes etc on this home all the these yrs. No one has ever come forward to claim the home.

The ten yrs have passed and now I am marreid and would like to sell the home.
I have been told that I would still have to find a relative of the Sr.
Is this the law in NY?. Please help.
Welcome Guest,

Unless the property is in your name, you won't be able to sell it off. You should contact a real estate attorney and he will help you in this matter. He will let you know how you can get the property transferred in your name.
